Emily Irene VanCamp was originally looking to become a dancer. However, after going to Katie's studio for the show Ladies Room, she became more attracted to acting. She began to take acting classes and simultaneously landed appearances on television shows from her home country of Canada. A few of the series she had starred in among other shows included: Are You Afraid of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp made a breakthrough in his career following his appearance as regular Sam Dolan on the WB horror mystery show Glory Days. Even although the show had received great reviews, it unfortunately had to be pulled after only 9 episodes due to its poor ratings. The 12th of May, 1986 actress was quickly offered a second part in Everwood. The character she plays Amy Abbott is one of the main characters. This role led to her being nominated as the Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
