Julie Chen Moonves, who was one of the initial hosts and moderators for The Talk (a Daytime Emmy Award award-winning talk show) was back on the air to host The Talk on August 5th for its 22nd edition. Then it was when she started writing that her real passion emerged. Hosting an outstanding entertainment talk show won her an additional Emmy. The Talk examines contemporary events, through the lens of five hostesses. Chen Moonves hosted CBS News the early morning news show The Early Show for a 10 years. Her prior roles included anchoring CBS Morning News and The Early Show. Following the 9/11 attacks, she traveled to Cairo for a fascinating and eye-opening interview. Chen Moonves's interview subjects include journalists including ex- New York City City mayor Rudy Giuliani; Queen Rania Jordanian, William Cohen (former Defense Secretary), and celebrities like Denzel Washington. Before The Early Show she was an editor at WDTN TV Dayton in Dayton in Ohio (1995-1997). Prior to that, she worked as a reporter with ABC NewsOne, the network's affiliated news service (1992-1995) and as a desk-assistant within ABC News' Los Angeles Bureau (1990-1991) as well as completing her final year of university from the University of Southern California. Her first time working in broadcasting, as a desk assistant for ABC News' late-night show Nightline With Ted Koppel. Ted Koppel is still among her favorite journalists. Chen Moonves and Ted Koppel worked together for Anatomy of a Riot - the primetime TV special that won the Columbia du-Pont award - which focused on what happened during the Los Angeles riots of 1992.
